Separate DTE letters shared with Save Our Skyline describe an early step involving a proposed wind energy facility in Beaver and Williams townships. The Beaver Township letter is dated October 28, 2026. A separate copy is addressed to Williams Township. The letters are meaningful evidence, but they are not a complete project file or permission to build.

What the correspondence says

The visible letter says DTE Electric is planning to develop, construct, own, and operate a wind energy conversion system in the two townships. It describes the proposed facility as approximately 254 megawatts.

Each letter offers to discuss a proposed site plan and asks the receiving township to confirm DTE's understanding that it has not adopted a Compatible Renewable Energy Ordinance, also called a CREO.

The letters say that if a township confirms it has no CREO, or if DTE does not receive a response within 30 days after the forthcoming meeting, DTE intends to file an application directly with the Michigan Public Service Commission.

Important distinction: A proposal, meeting request, or possible state application is not the same as an approved project or permission to begin construction.

What has not been made public

The circulated image does not show several details residents need in order to understand the proposal:

  • The date of the Williams Township copy
  • Attachments or the proposed site plan
  • The project boundary and participating parcels
  • The proposed number and location of turbines
  • Turbine height, setbacks, noise, or shadow information
  • A construction or regulatory schedule

Those missing details should not be guessed. Save Our Skyline is seeking original documents and will label new information by source and date.

Current state case check

As of November 4, 2026, the project does not appear on the Michigan Public Service Commission's table of current renewable energy siting applications. That status can change, so residents should check the official state page directly.

What residents can do now

  1. Watch Beaver and Williams township agendas and special meeting notices.
  2. Ask each township for the complete DTE letter, attachments, maps, emails, meeting correspondence, and written response.
  3. Ask whether the township has a CREO and what public process it expects to follow.
  4. Keep dated copies of official documents and written answers.
